Via Ferrata in the Orobie Alps and the Bergamo Prealps

The so-called Alps and Prealps of Bergamo, of which Alpi Orobie are a section, are an alpine group in their own right and extend from Lake of Como to Val Camonica, from the southern shore of the Valtellina down to Lake Iseo and the Po Valley.

The so-called Alpi Orobie represents the wildest and highest section of the group and extend from the Valsassina (Lecco) up to Valcamonica (Brescia) exceeding 3000 m. The Bergamo Alps trespassing in the province of Lecco offer some peaks of great mountaineering importance: the Grigne, the Resegone, the Zucco Campelli etc.

Below you find 37 reviews of via ferrata that develop in the Alpi Orobie and in the Alps and Prealps of Bergamo. In this collection we have included the itineraries in the Grigne and to the Zucco Campelli while we excluded the Resegone and Medale, although both are geographically part of this group.

  • Very difficult itinerary

    Via Ferrata of Zucco Pesciola

The Ferrata of Zucco Pesciola climbs the homonymous mountain in the inland of Lecco. The route is very beautiful, logical and climbable. The difficult variant stands out as one of the most challenging stretches in Italy with overhanging passages and demanding traverses.

    Difficult itinerary

Via Ferrata Guerino Rossi at Pizzo Strinato

The Via Ferrata Guerino Rossi at Pizzo Strinato at Pizzo Strinato is an itinerary that develops in a wild corner of the Orobie. The route is rather short but very beautiful, on an aesthetic edge that reaches the summit of Pizzo Strinato. Return to the exposed Via Normal.

    Moderately difficult itinerary

    Via Ferrata Passo della Porta

On the east side of the massif of Presolana you can climb the Ferrata that leads to the Passo della Porta near the mount Visolo. Very nice itinerary under one of the symbols of the Alpi Orobie.

    Moderately difficult itinerary

Via Ferrata Maurizio at the Alben

The Via Ferrata Maurizio is a beautiful, well-aided route that rises vertically and exposed to the peak of monte Croce in the massif ofAlben in Orobie Prealps.

    Moderately difficult itinerary

    Aided path of the Direttissima

A classic itinerary that cuts across the eastern side of the Aided path of Val Scarettone and it allows to reach a saddle from which to climb to the summit. Beautiful path, between spiers and pinnacles, without substantial difficulties.

    Moderately difficult itinerary

    Via Ferrata of CAI Mandello

Via Ferrata leading to the Sasso dei Carbonari, close to Aided path of Val Cassina. Via Ferrata rather easy with some exposed but never difficult passages.
