The Parco delle Fucine di Casto is a unique park of its kind in Italy. It offers many activities related to the mountain and the entrance to the park is free. In the report we describe all the aided routes present but the park offers much more: hiking trails, mountain bikes, climbing routes, zip lines and refreshment points. The recommended periods to visit it are mid-seasons but it is generally possible to follow the itineraries even in winter except during snowy periods. The park offers many exciting and excellent aided training routes although they are generally not very climbable.
The starting point of the trip is the large parking lot that, near the town of Casto in the province of Brescia, runs along the Parco delle Fucine. From the center of Casto take on the left (south) via Marconi which, with clear indications, leads to the Parco delle Fucine in about one kilometer. Directions for Google Maps available here.
Parking is near the park with free admission. Already from the car park you can see some aided routes (the so called "Stroke of the Witch", and "Rainbow") and at least one suspension bridge.
This report is different from the others on the site. Each route has its own development and the approach from the car park will be briefly described.
Information on gaps, length and map available on the site is collected from the official website of the Parco delle Fucine di Casto to this link.
The area of the Brescia Pre-Alps is full of aided itineraries and the Parco delle Fucine goes very well to complete a day where another route has been traveled. A few kilometers from the park we meet the Via Ferrata Caspai and the Via Ferrata Nasego while going further up the valley to Lake of Idro we meet the Via Ferrata Fregio and the Via Ferrata Ginestre, the crench, the Aided Path of the Idro Lake Falls and the brief Ferrata di Cima Ora.
