Introduction:
The easy Aided path of the Foppe is a path that goes up from Piani Resinelli to Rifugio Rosalba. The path does not present technical difficulties and in two single sections self-insurance equipment is placed. It can be easily combined with other climbing routes to the Southern Grigna.
Starting location:
The starting point of the itinerary is Pian dei Resinelli in the province of Lecco. You reach this hamlet from Ballabio going up the various bends. When you reach the hamlet, look for parking near the former Alippi hut where we will park the car.
Directions for Google Maps available here.
Approach:
The objective of our path is to reach the Rosalba Hut under the Grignetta (or Grigna Meridionale). From the car park and follow the abundant signs for path 9 or "Sentiero delle Foppe".
From the car park you start going up a private asphalted road (via alle Foppe) which leads you out of the town with a moderate slope. We will then reach a marked crossroads where we will continue to the right, starting to increase the steepness of the route following the white-red signs present. We will continue on a moderate slope up to the first aided stretch (30 'from the parking lot).
Via Ferrata:
We find the first aided section after a detrital gully in which there is a stretch with chain. We continue along the path ignoring the crossroads that would lead us to the start of the Monteaineering Path to the Torrioni Punta Giulia, Torre Costanza and Mongolfiera. We come to the second easy aided section that is made up of a pair of metal brackets then a a section of rope that helps us go up an easy jump. From this stretch onwards the slope increases and we continue along the path where the aided part of the path ends.
We continue along the path and reach a second aided stretch with which we ascend an easy small wall (30 'from the first chain -1h total).
Descent:
If you wanted to make a path of return with a partial ring you could go down the Aided path of the Dead. From the hut , descend briefly along the uphill path until you see a path that descends to the left. The path is steep and has an aided stretch along an exposed traverse. Go down and connect again to the original path just above the first of the two aided sections of the Sentiero delle Foppe path. From that stretch, continue backwards along the path that leads to the outward journey (1h 30 'from Rifugio Rosalba - 3h 30' total).
Alternatively you can avoid the detour to the Aided path of the Dead and descend along the uphill path (1h from the hut - 3h total).
Notes:
The itinerary presents a path with very low technical difficulties in a very beautiful and interesting landscape context. The few equipment present helps to tackle the few most challenging stretches of the route. Attention on summer weekends that the path and the hut are very popular tourist destinations.
Opportunities:
From the Rosalba hut you can opt to continue the hike to the summit of the Southern Grigna choosing the Aided path Cecilia, the Aided path of the Val Scarettone or to go to graft onto Direttissima. Both of these paths are more exposed and difficult than the path uphill to the hut, although the levels of difficulty remain moderate. In this case the return could also be done in a loop going down the Cresta Cermenati up to Piani Resinelli and then towards the former Alippi hut. In this case the route is to be considered many long and demanding.

Path in my opinion and who has an acceptable resistance in the legs, descent made moderately difficult by stones and screes.
But the view deserves the effort!
