The Aided path of the Dead is a variant of the easy Foppe Aided path to reach the Rosalba Hut from the Piani Resinelli. The Sentiero dei Morti is steeper, more exposed and faster than the Foppe and can be an alternative for the climb. There is only one section along a diagonal traverse.
The starting point of the itinerary is Pian dei Resinelli in the province of Lecco. You reach this hamlet from Ballabio going up the various bends. When you reach the hamlet, look for parking near the former Alippi hut where we will park the car.
Parked the car takes the path 9 of the Foppe and follow it up to a small sign with a sign indicating the detour to the right to take our path (30 'from the car).
From the pole we will begin to climb steeply along a narrow track in the woods. This stretch is tiring and attention must be paid to the slightly unstable ground of the stones. When you have left the forest, continue along the path along the meadows below the Grignetta with the famous towers at our side, destination for many mountaineers. Looking up we will notice the hut destination of our itinerary. Continue on the path to the only aided stretch: a sloping traverse in which the bottom is slippery and slightly sloping. Pass the traverse and uphill along the path we reach the hut (1h from the deviation from the Sentiero delle Foppe - 1h 30 'total).
If our itinerary ends at the hut, our descent could take place:
backwards for the forward path (1h 15 'from the hut - 2h 45' total) or
from the hut go down and ignore the detour to the left for the Aided path of the Dead and stay in the Aided path Foppe up to the car park (1h 30 'from the hut - 3h total).
The Aided path of the Dead is a slightly more exposed and steep variant of the Aided path of the Foppe to reach the Rosalba Hut. It does not present particular difficulties and the only aided stretch helps us in the only slightly more delicate passage of the itinerary.
There are plenty of opportunities to continue from the shelter. We report the possibility of climbing to the Southern Grigna for the Aided path Cecilia, the Aided path of the Val Scarettone or for the Direttissima. From the top you could descend along the Aided Cecilia Trail, or take a longer and more challenging loop along the Cresta Cermenati or for the more daring Cresta Senigaglia and return with a long ring to Piani Resinelli.
