Introduction:
The Path Aided to the Dalmazzi Hut is a high mountain hiking itinerary in an alpine, severe, very exciting environment. Continue in the direction of the Triolet Glacier in a succession of moraine areas, ridges and gullies in which some parts have been aided to facilitate the route, especially downhill.
Starting location:
The starting point of the itinerary is the hamlet of Arnouva, the last hamlet of Val Ferret in the municipality of Courmayeur in the province of Aosta. You reach this hamlet after a long paved but narrow road that runs through the valley. Park your car in the square in front of a restaurant and a campsite. Directions for Google Maps available here.
Approach:
From the car park, continue along the dirt road (signs 23 and then 32) for about 1 km towards the Rifugio Elena until you come to a saddle near a bend to the right. There begins the aided path for the Dalmazzi Hut turning to the left. Continue on the path, ignoring the signs for the Comine Shelter (path 22), go up the bottom of the valley. You will cross 4 streams, tributaries of the Dora di Ferret until you reach the moraine of the Triolet iced. Go up following the yellow markings until you meet a stony ground and then along the north side of the valley. You come to a piece of descent towards the glacial valley on the inner side and resume the climb until you reach the ridge. Go along the ridge until you reach the rocks above which the hut is placed. Cross a snowfield and arrive near the last stretch of the hike, or the path aided with canaponi (2h from the parking lot).
Via Ferrata:
Descent:
We descend along the same ascent path, in which the aided sections are very comfortable. The entire stretch is covered, the ridge, the moraine and you go down to the valley, then to the car (2h from the Dalmazzi hut - 5h total).
Notes:
The aided path of the Dalmazzi Hut is from a technical point of view a difficult path although it has vertical sections inside. It should however be included in a high mountain trip under impressive peaks and near a large glacier, so it should not be underestimated absolutely. It is also necessary to keep an eye on the various points for falling stones during the journey that goes back up to this daring hut.
Opportunities:
This type of trip, as happens for the neighbor trip to the Boccalatte Hut, for unevenness and effort does not allow other day trips. However, the area is very well aided with trips, even with aided sections. Among these we highlight the Ferrata to the Borelli Shelter, the Ferrata del Bicentenario at Mont Chetif and Aided path at the Mont de la Brenva.
